Advocacy is at the core of the NMA’s mission. We represent the voices and concerns of Nebraska physicians in every space where health care policies are shaped. From the state capitol to courtrooms, state and federal agencies, health plans, and communities, the NMA is working to enhance patient health, support physician-led care, and make Nebraska a supportive place for the practice of medicine.
Our Mission Statement:
The NMA serves physician members
by advocating for the medical profession,
for patients, and for the health of all Nebraskans.
Through initiatives aimed at improving access to care, supporting Nebraska’s Excess Liability Fund and liability caps, reducing administrative burdens, and protecting patients, the NMA serves as a powerful advocate for Nebraska physicians.
My NMA “Why”
“The seeds of my work promoting healthcare equity through policy and system redesign were sown way back when I was a medical student through my involvement with the NMA.
As a native Nebraskan returning home, I’m excited to connect with leaders committed to forging pathways to better access, better care, and better health for all Nebraskans.”

Nebraska Medical Political Action Committee (NMPAC)
NMPAC is the official political action committee of the Nebraska Medical Association and is the single largest political voice representing all physicians and the patients they serve. It is the collective voice for thousands of physicians, residents, and medical students by playing a vital role in establishing and maintaining relationship with state legislators. These relationships are fundamental to our advocacy success! Together, we can continue to achieve the legislative goals of the Nebraska Medical Association. An investment in the NMPAC is one of the most important contributions you can make to further our progress of protecting your profession.

NMA Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee is open to all NMA members and is the vehicle for determining the NMA’s position on introduced legislation at the Nebraska Legislature. The committee meets three times a year:
- In December, before the legislative session begins, a briefing on any legislation the NMA itself will be introducing and any other bill drafts NMA staff have been made aware of.
- At the end of January, discuss bills introduced that impact the NMA. Committee members will provide insight into the bills and vote to provide guidance to the BOD and Executive Committee.
- At the end of the legislative session, recap and debrief on the results of bills the NMA took positions on and discuss plans for the next session.
